Lakhota Lake - Dismal Condition

Jamnagar citizens are famous of merry making, and may be they will be equally famous for neglecting their age old heritage, The Lakhota Fort.
This centuries old monument is in dismal condition due to negligence by local authority and Jamnagar residents.

Lakhota Fort and the Ranmal Lake were constructed two centuries ago by Jam Ranjitsinh. The Lakhota fort is constructed in the middle of Ranmal lake. After independence it was converted to museum. Semi-circular bastions, turrets, pavillion and many exquisite sculpture stored in the Lakhota fort also needs renovation.

The restoration project started of in 2005 but is at stale, authorities claim that un-availability of funds is the main reason. However if someone visit the Shravan fair at Pradarshan grounds, you can easily notice huge hoardings of City politicians, and in some cases mayor and deputy mayor as well. How come authority waste money for such publicity and deny funds for heritage which is the identity of the city.

Ancient Buildings in worst condition

Jamnagar, Once known as Paris of Saurashtra now cries for restoration of its famous ancient buildings, forts and great architectures.

Jamnagar Municipal Corporation spends millions in re-building the city circles, where it can not look for restoring famous Lakhota Lake Fort.

Take a case of Statue of Jam Raval near Lakhota Lake, this place is filled with dirt and is not cleaned since almost a year. The horse on which founder of Jamnagar seats, has lost 3 legs, this statue can fall at any moment. Lakhota Lake Fort itself is going under restoration since last 5 years with no progress.

Ironically the same department which is looking for these architecture (ASI) is spending around 32Lakh on cleaning up and painting a tower (Pancheshwar Tower) in city, building that are older then 150-200 years are completly ignored, this includes Bhujio Kotho, Lakhota Lake Fort, Khambhaliya Gate etc.

In last 5 years, JMC had spent more then 3-4 crore in gardening, plantation and slum cleanup which is though not visible here. Now only the alert citizens can wake up the JMC from its prolonged intended ignorance of the situation.

Appeal to citizens, keep the city clean.

Since childhood, I have seen jamnagar as it is today, same dust, crippled infrastructure, no access to public utility, very tough public transport and above all the only visiting place in city, Lakhota palace and lake in totally dismal condition.

Have left the city since last 13 years or so, every time I visit Jamnagar, I always had one hope, this time the road from railway station to city will at least be pothole free, Lakhota will be clean and the walls around it will be mended, all the near by gardens will have some signs of nature, those gardens won't be a open gambling place. Like new buildings of
State and city administration, i could see at least cleaned up and un-fractured public utility places.

And every time, my expectations managed to exceed ground reality, the ground reality is same in every "growing" city in India.

Where are the roads that I always dreamed, where is the clean city, where are dustbins, where are cleaners that I am sure JMC is showing in their annual accounts, where is the supposedly infrastructure expected by a municipal corporation of a city that has world largest grass root refinery, the city that contributes around 25-30% share in petroleum produce of this country, the city that has brass parts industries, defense, natural reservoirs, exotic beaches like Pirotan and narara.

Alas, it is a dream, and the reality check is far away from the dream, city administration does not care, nor any politicians, administrative officials or any citizen of this city, Yes, we all are equally responsible for the state of this city.

We citizens, clean our house, throw the trash outside, hoping those whom we pay tax will collect it for us, they will keep this city as clean and shining as we do with our house, we park our vehicles wherever we like, we ride them as if a child is learning how to play with a remote control car, we do push our kids to clean the house, but we don't teach them to keep the garbage in dustbin when we are out, we don't care to follow traffic, stay organized and of course maintain public cleanliness.

And we blame administration for not doing enough, if they are not doing enough, we all are equally responsible.

Anjali news channel has recently started campaign for saving Lakhota lake, let us all join and contribute all we can to make our city "Paris" again.

Uttarayan Kites : Lakhota Birds Protection

Jamnagar City and neadr by place like Khijadiya has been a paradise for Bird watchers in Winter.

While the life in Khijadiya may be cool for birds but in Jamnagar town it becomes deadly in the festival of Uttarayan.

Earlier Jamnagar had very few kites in days of Makarsankranti, now a days with vacation and trends from Ahmedabad/Mumbai, Jamnagar is flying high on Uttarayan with sky full of Kites.

Jamnagar citizens who had started kite flying in Uttarayan recently, are now taught a few lessons of bird care by Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC).

Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) has banned the kite flying in early morning and also in the late evening. This is peek time for a bird to fly to the nest. Jamnagar has pioneered herself to be the first city to have such rule.

Several bird lovers will be patrolling the Jamnagar Lakhota Lake area, this area has around 100 species of birds, all injured birds will be given immediate treatment.

A bird lover also requested Jamnagar citizens no to feed or throw away Ganthiyas near bird areas, he appealed that oily food like Ganthiyas are not at all good food for birds. Few nature lovers will be doing a educational drive for the same as well.

Lakhota Lake - Fishing net found

Jamnagar Mayor captured a "Fishing Net" from Lakhota Lake, this net was distributed from Bhujia Kotha to area near Bala Hanuman temple. many turtles and fish had died recently from this net and citizens had been complaining about the dead fish since many days.

It seemed that few opportunists had seeded the net in this area and were trying to make quick bucks from such foul act.

Carbide Mangoes - JMC wake up

With increase in demand for Mangoes in the city, Mango vendors are shifting to more in-organic ways to ripe the Mangoes.

A hazardous substance , Carbide is used in abundance to ripe the mangoes artificially, every medical and health team should inspect the Mangoes religiously and without any preferential treatments. However many
vendors are getting a free run to use the carbide and one can see the carbide bags in Lakhota lake, Subhash market etc. will JMC look into this ?

Kamla Nehru Park to be privatised

Kamla Nehru park will soon be given for private management, with this move it seems there will be fees imposed on the entry of the park as well.

Ironically this news came after around 1Crore were distributed by CM Modi on the gardens and parks, it seems JMC management wants to cash out this public money by giving the management to private parties and get cash from them, once the garden is set for private management, all sorts of un approved things may pop in, one may see many hoardings, banners and advertisements in the park.

Anjali news has recently campaigned about deteriorating condition of the Lakhota Lake and tries to wake up JMC, it seems JMC officials are in no mood to look at citizen's appeals.
