Vibrant Gujarat 2011 - Whats for Jamnagar

With MOUs over a One Lakh Crore being signed for Gujarat, Jamnagar and nearby places do get many MOUs in place.
With big names like Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani , Chanda Kochar etc announcing the details of various MOU, Saurashtra, Kutch and rest of Gujarat is looking forward for news of investments.

Mukesh Ambani may announce details of proposed power plant and newly known rubber plant built in collaboration with SIBUR  Russia, Essar has announced expansions of plant.

Vibrant Gujarat 2011 seen presence of Prime minister of Rawanda, Canadian High Commissioner.

The focus of the celebration was brand ambassador of Gujarat, Shri Amitabh Bachchan.

Freak accident killed three labourers

In Rozi port area near Jamnagar, three labourers were killed in a tragic accident.


According to police officials, the labourers were sleeping under cotton bags due to sheer cold in the region, while they were sleeping in morning; other labours unaware that someone could be sleeping in the cotton bag pileup started dumping heavy substances and more cotton bags, resulting to death of three labourers. They died due to suffocation. In other incident a labour at Essar's oil refinery in Jamnagar district also died when a heavy substance fell off from a crane.

Jamnagar Real Estate Price - NRI Hand

For the recent rise in real estate price in Jamnagar, many are attributing the NRI factor, NRI Gujaratis and locals are diverting their money to real estate.

Jamnagar's banking data shows a decline in deposit since last one year, and continuous rise in real estate prices, indicating that money is being moved real estate.
NRG income which contributed to move in real estate pushes Jamnagar developers to create new high class amenity complex in Jamnagar, although due to global recession income from NRI Gujarati has fallen recently. NRI Remittance in the bank is mostly diverted to housing deals.
Jamnagar citizens now fancy big houses and are moving from traditional town places to more open places like air force / Khambhaliya road, near dared and dhuvav.
Prices in costly area like Valkeshwari, Patel Colony, Panchvati are sky rocketing, in some places construction prices are reaching around 3000-3500 Rs. psf.
Air force / Khambhaliya road price are in the range of 1000-2000 Rs. Psf, this high range is depending on building and builder's reputation.

Ranjistsagar - huge Fishing net caught

Following a complaint by Shri Shatrushalya singhji, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation and police caught a huge fishing net from Ranjit Sagar Dam.
Forest department also helped with a speed boat to catch the net. the net was of more then 500 mtrs. This kind of illegal fishing net kills many animals and aquatic animals in the dam.

Brass Parts - Scrap price rise is killing the business

Brass part industry is recovering from global slowdown, but burning rates of brass scrap has made life terrible for the brass parts manufacturing here in Jamnagar.

In may Brass scraps rate were 8200 USD / ton , which is now 9400 USD / ton, this price rise translated to around 275 rs rise in per kg amout of brass scrap in city.
Jamnagar brass part association is asking local MP to appeal this to govt.

SIBUR - RIL : Plant Confirmed in Jamnagar

Reliance Industries confirmed the speculation of tie-up with Russian rubber giant Sibur and both company will setup a plant in Jamnagar costing around USD 450 million,

with initial capacity of 100,000 ton, this plant will be commissioned in late 2013.
SIBUR will be solution partner and RIL will supply monomers and provide the JV with world-class infrastructure and utilities
The agreement to this effect was signed during the recent visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Thieves caught Goat, Theft continues in Jamnagar

In a comic crime, three thieves were caught when they tried escape with stolen goats.

These three had stole goats from various places in city and went to sold them in village areas nearby Jamnagar. They were caught red-handed with two goats.
While thieves continues to run free, in last week more then a dozen bikes were stolen from city, with three bikes stolen yesterday from Ranjit Nagar and main city area.

Three Temple Looted - Ranjitnagar

In a major embarrassment for Jamnagar Police, thieves looted cash from donation boxes across three temples in Ranjit Nagar on friday night.

Three temples in RanjitNagar includes Janki Vallabh Mandir, Chamunda Mandir and Ram Mandir near the market area, strangely thieves left the ornament untouched.

Unseasonal Rain - Farmer suicide

Unseasonal rains forced a farmer killed himself yesterday near Jamnagar.

A farmer in a small village near Jamnagar committed suicide by poisoning himself; he was worried over unseasonal rain that spoilt his field. The farmer had bought the money on credit and there was no way to repay it back.

Flight hoax call made authorities run

A hoax call to Jamnagar Airport saying that a Jamnagar bound flight from Mumbai was hijacked made authorities run to Airport.

Jamnagar Fire brigade, Special commando force of Jamnagar police and collector of Jamnagar rushed to the spot, only to find that it was a mock drill arranged by local administration.
A NSG commando team from New Delhi also reached while the mock drill was being executed.

Dwarka - Chief Office Caught in bribe

Dwarka town chief officer was caught red-handed on Friday while accepting bribe worth 16,000.

This comes as disturbing news as the rates of bribe were fixed on percent basis of total work amount, Chief officer Ashwin Pathak fixed the commission rate as 8% of total value; In this case 16,000 for an amount of 200,000.
Chief Officer is booked under Anti Corruption Laws.

RIL Jamnagar - Secured by CISF

Mukesh Ambani finally managed to get CISF cover for RIL.

Starting this month a new contingent of CISF's elite commando forces will guard the world's biggest refinery. RIL's Jamnagar refinery has been the prime target for terrorist, as it's a pride of the nation's infrastructure. This elite combat commando contingent has 217 CISF personnels.
Reliance Group ED P K Kapil earlier this month hoisted the CISF flag in Refinery premises and flagged off Quick Reaction Commando Teams.
Kapil formally passed over the security baton to CISF Unit Commander S K Pandey.
CISF will be moving its units for more then 300 units; this includes very sensitive installations like nuclear, space establishments, airports, sea ports, power plants and Delhi metro. CISF will also cover all major navratna companies and host of PSUs.

150 Core billing dcam rocks the city

A suicide of a VAT officer in VAT Office unearthed a huge billing racket of around 150 Crore.

A VAT inspector named K.B. Jadeja commited suicide inside the VAT office on 08-Oct-2010, he died on 19-Oct, and police started the harassment allegations against seniors of Jadeja that prompted him to take this step.
In what looked like a case of personal harassment at workplace soon turn out to be co-ordinated racket of VAT theft, details of the scam were disclosed by victim himself before committing suicide, he handed over detailed letters to office assistant Raju, to disburse the letters to cops, CM Narendra Modi and many other vigilance agencies.
Jadeja also left a CD of his interview with a private local cable channel; a copy of this CD was also made available to Police.
It is believed that two big businessman and four prestigious lawyers are also named in this scam.

A 15 year old youth hang himself, as he disliked staying in hostel.

Chetan (15) , a student of Delta school situated near Falla, was a Patel Colony resident , he hanged himself on Tuesday.

Police action - Various arrests

In Jamnagar district, Police have acted and made various arrests within and outside city.

 

In a shocking incident 3 prostitutes and owner of a massage parlour were arrested from the Khodiyar Colony area, the centre was running since last one year. In another incident a Lohana businessman was caught with 16 boxes of jaggery to be used of alcohol fermentation. Outside Jamnagar city, near sikka, one person was caught with narcotics by special operation group.

Hygiene Scare - Food joints shut down

In a late but effective step to ensure hygiene in restaurants, health department have asked three restaurants to shut down for next five days here in Jamnagar.

 

These three restaurants are located near Tin Batti area, naming Kalpana Restaurant, Madras Restaurant and Bhagodaya Rajputana Lodge, at Kalpana restaurant, clothes were washed inside the restaurant kitchen.

 

Along with restaurants, many dairy, food joint and street food stalls were also inspected, around 100 KG of non-edible sweets were discarded. Few shops among inspected are listed as below

 

  • Gokul Dairy (DigJam Circle)
  • Paavan Dairy (DigJam Circle)
  • Gatral Dairy (DigJam Circle)
  • Shreeji Sweets (Kamdar Colony Road)
  • Giriraj Food Zone (Kamdar Colony Road)

 

Citizens are requested to check the hygiene condition before barging in to any of the restaurants in Jamnagar.

Medical Hostel Girl Student Ragging - Suspension and Fine


Four Medical students were suspended and a Doctor was fined 25,000 By Anti Ragging Committee in Jamnagar .

The committee did note that this is a case of fun yet to avoid such incidents, these suspension and fine was required.

Few weeks back four medical girl students of M P Shah Medical College and a Doctor named Rupam Solanki picked up a fresher named Urmi VIjayKumar for a ragging prank, normal ragging are everyday incidents in medical and engineering colleges, however in this case victim lodged a case against Anti ragging committee by calling Delhi anti ragging helpline. Yes, there is such helpline in India, and its seems to be doing its work. Kapil Sibbal launched anti ragging helpline more then a year back, toll free number of Anti Ragging helpline is 1800-180-5522, and the Email is helpline@antiragging.net.

tax officer succumbed to death

A tax officer from Jamnagar who attempted suicide 2 weeks back in his office at jamnagar, succumbed to death yesterday.

This 50 year old rajput named Jadeja alleged that he was harrassed by his three seniors, infact in his dying declaration to SP subhash trivedi, he mentioned that he is taking this extreme step because of the three seniors.
Police is now investing matter further.
