40K Crore RIL Expansion plan leaked in media
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is planning to increase capacity of the Jamnagar refinery and will be making it as biggest refinery in the world.
RIL will invest more then 40,000 crore by 2014.
Off the 40K crore, 15K crore will alone be spent on the prestigious cracker project, this craker will decompose crude into Ethylene, propylene, low-density polyethylene and monoethylene glycol etc.
Second pie of 15K crore will be ised in coke gasification plant.
Small investments like supporting projects would cost Rs. 4,000 crore. it will have a crude distillation unit (CDU) that would utilize crude from Cairn.
For the first time "J3" a code name for Jamnagar refinery expansion was mentioned in the media. This news may flash during ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ conference for global investors to be held in January.
GL estimates net profit for RIL from 2011 to 2014 between 17-18 Bln USD.

Vidya Sahayak - Bogus Certificate Scandal
One more scandal hits Jamnagar, a local education observer and a head cleark are under investigation for a possible case of forging and issuing bogus certificate to hundreads for Vidya Sahayak Scheme.
Approx more then hundread illegal candidates made their way through this Vidya Sahayak scheme, these were not from Jamnagar district still were enrolled for this program.
Many are saying that each of the candidate have paid more then 4 lakh to get enrolled in the scheme, so this will not be an easy task for the law enforcement agencies to clear this mess

The first tremor was measured as 2.6 on Richter scale with second of scale 3.
Basic theory believes that these are caused by elevation of ground water table due to heavy rains in this region.
