DKV College -new building inauguration

Shri Doshi Kalidas Virji (DKV) College's new building is ready and will be inaugurated on 31-December.
It took more then 9 years to build the new building; this new building was constructed after the collapse of a wing in 2001 earthquake. Technical education minister Raman Vora will inaugurate the new premise.

Narara Island - Aquatic Life Education Camp

Marine national park will be hosting an aquatic life education camp at Narar island near Jamnagar.


Narara island is one of the 42 island that constitutes marine national park near Jamnagar, the park was open for public in 1982 and is spawn across 163 Sq. Km.
This education camp will benefit students from std 8, Narara island is the only island connected to Jamnagar by road, hence tourist can easily reach to this place. During low tide one can walk on the coral reef and observe the coral reef life like coral conchs, crabs, octopus, sponges, prawns, starfish etc.
15 different types of land grass and many types of sea weed can also be seen.
At present a students and teachers can enjoy a night stay and education program in Narara, Teachers / Students can enrol to this program by filling form from marine national park office in Jamnagar.

Jamnagar Real Estate Price - NRI Hand

For the recent rise in real estate price in Jamnagar, many are attributing the NRI factor, NRI Gujaratis and locals are diverting their money to real estate.

Jamnagar's banking data shows a decline in deposit since last one year, and continuous rise in real estate prices, indicating that money is being moved real estate.

Ranjistsagar - huge Fishing net caught

Following a complaint by Shri Shatrushalya singhji, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation and police caught a huge fishing net from Ranjit Sagar Dam.
Forest department also helped with a speed boat to catch the net. the net was of more then 500 mtrs. This kind of illegal fishing net kills many animals and aquatic animals in the dam.

Brass Parts - Scrap price rise is killing the business

Brass part industry is recovering from global slowdown, but burning rates of brass scrap has made life terrible for the brass parts manufacturing here in Jamnagar.

In may Brass scraps rate were 8200 USD / ton , which is now 9400 USD / ton, this price rise translated to around 275 rs rise in per kg amout of brass scrap in city.
Jamnagar brass part association is asking local MP to appeal this to govt.

SIBUR - RIL : Plant Confirmed in Jamnagar

Reliance Industries confirmed the speculation of tie-up with Russian rubber giant Sibur and both company will setup a plant in Jamnagar costing around USD 450 million,

with initial capacity of 100,000 ton, this plant will be commissioned in late 2013.
SIBUR will be solution partner and RIL will supply monomers and provide the JV with world-class infrastructure and utilities
The agreement to this effect was signed during the recent visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Thieves caught Goat, Theft continues in Jamnagar

In a comic crime, three thieves were caught when they tried escape with stolen goats.

These three had stole goats from various places in city and went to sold them in village areas nearby Jamnagar. They were caught red-handed with two goats.
While thieves continues to run free, in last week more then a dozen bikes were stolen from city, with three bikes stolen yesterday from Ranjit Nagar and main city area.

Cold sweeping in Jamnagar

Jamnagar City and district is experiencing heavy cold in recent times, the temperature went down to 9.5 in night.

Two person in Jamnagar city and one in Khambhaliya were freeze to death in last 24 hrs. In morning moisture was around 100% which created heavy fog in the morning.
Most of the citizen preferred to stay indoor and reduced outdoor activities.

Hundreads affected by food poisoning

More then 100 people from Lalpur area were hospitalised after severe complaint of diarrhoea and vomiting, caused by consumption of contaminated drinking water.

Of these, around 80 people were from nearby villages of Lalpur. More then 20 people with serious condition were shifted to G G hospital at Jamnagar.

Bhanvad - Ancient Cave found

Ancient cave buried under 80 feet was found yesterday near Bhanvad's pachtchar village.

People flocked the place after the news spread, this cave has three stones resembling shivaling and the cave seems to be very long, archaeological department was rushed to conserve the spot and dig on further to get more information.
This cave was found when DCC Cement Company's mining department was unearthing some of the ore.

around five sweet water wells are now submerged, few temples that were accessible by land in last few years are now moved to this new island, soon one will need to visit the temples by boats.

Ship Drowned, Mayor Elections

A ship returning from Dubai torn to pieces and drowned when a larger ship hit her near Dwarka, the broken ship was from Mandavi and carrying cargo of Dates from Dubai.
All eight sailors were saved by a passing ship.
On news from Jamnagar city, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation will hold mayor elections on 14 December.
Jamnagar's M. P. Shah Medical college and GG Hospital (Irwin) will undergo an audit check by Medical Council of India.

Retired Mamlatdar - cleared of all charges

A retired Mamlatdar from Kalavad, was cleared of all charges by Gujarat High Court (HC), 18 years after he was trapped by the ACB while accepting bribe of mere Rs 300.

Chandrakant Bhuptani, a mamlatdar working in Kalavad was arrested in January 1992 was caught by ACB officials while accepting bribe of Rs 300 from a kerosene vendor, Chandrakant Joshi. ACB suggested that Joshi bribed Bhuptani so that he could carry on his business. And earlier special ACB court had convicted Bhuptani for four years rigorous imprisonment in 1997.
Bhuptani moved to Gujarat High Court, and was cleared of all charges considering there was no evidence against him.

Three Temple Looted - Ranjitnagar

In a major embarrassment for Jamnagar Police, thieves looted cash from donation boxes across three temples in Ranjit Nagar on friday night.

Three temples in RanjitNagar includes Janki Vallabh Mandir, Chamunda Mandir and Ram Mandir near the market area, strangely thieves left the ornament untouched.

Unseasonal Rain - Farmer suicide

Unseasonal rains forced a farmer killed himself yesterday near Jamnagar.

A farmer in a small village near Jamnagar committed suicide by poisoning himself; he was worried over unseasonal rain that spoilt his field. The farmer had bought the money on credit and there was no way to repay it back.
