Saurashtra people were known to display not much interest in worldly affairs and are generally laid-backs, this also is the reason many industries are setup here without much noise and repulsion from locals, however things are changing.

Biggest hit is Adani group’s Multi-Product Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) and power project at Mundra in Kutch, others include Nirma cement plant in Bhavnagar, followed by a nuclear power project, thermal power project, and a coal jetty.
In Jamnagar, many fishermen and boats owners in Salaya are against Essar jetty, many independent group have filed PILs against these projects, Salaya fishermen have filed a PIL in Supreme Court.
