Gujarat high court closed the doors on proposed port at Positra near Jamnagar.
Back in 1995, Positra was identified as one of the projects for a PPP project, SKIL Infrastructure Ltd. promoted "Gujarat Positra Port Co Ltd" shown interest in port development at Positra. Gujarat Maritime Board appointed the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) to evaluate the environment impact assessment study in 2000, later based on this report and an assesment report from two independent experts, the proposal was rejected as a port in Positra would adversely impact the Marine National Park at Jamnagar.
Today, Gujarat high court refused for re-assesment of the impact study and hence there will be no more port development at Positra.
