Essar, Reliance refineries deferred shutdown

By Jamnagar NewsOn 29. March 2011

After Reliance Refinery deferred its shutdown of FCC Unit, it was Essar who has deferred a shutdown of its 280,000 BPD refinery.

Japan's crisis and Middle East unrest have spike global prices and tighten supplies for petroleum products, Essar Energy stated that its Vadinar refinery in Jamnagar will now undergo a normal shutdown in Sep-Oct, due to events in Middle east and Japan. After three state run refineries have changed their maint. plans, Reliance and Essar were among the first private refiners to do so.

For Essar, this planned shutdown was not merely a normal excercise but an effort to increase the refining capacity from existing 280K BPD to 360K BPD.
